Our family has been acquainted with CBH Ministries for several years.  We use their Keys for Kid devotional (one free bi-monthly copy, by mail, per family) to supplement our Bible study time.  You may be familiar with them, as well, both for the Keys for Kids devotionals and for the Children’s Bible Hour radio program, which has been around since 1942.

Now, CBH Minisistries has a brand new way to enjoy some of those familiar radio shows:  The Seasons of Faith illustrated picture book series.  Seasons of Faith books are colorfully-illustrated 10 X 8.5″ books adapted from the classic Children’s Bible Hour radio scripts.  Each comes with a CD featuring the voice of “Uncle Charlie” narrating each page.

I love that they also include the famous (well, famous if you’re old like me) instruction at the beginning, “You will know it is time to turn the page when you hear…”

Each “season” focused on a different season in the Christian walk:

  • Spring is the time when faith develops and Christians begin to share the Salvation message with others.
  • Summer is the season when faith grows and fruit is witnesses as Christians share God’s Word.
  • Autumn is a season of struggle and temptation when God teaches us how to forgive and grow in grace.
  • Winter is the most difficult season when deep struggles or the death of a loved one can pull us away from God.  This season teaches us to lean on Him.

We enjoyed listening to these stories as a way to supplement our daily Bible study.  I really appreciated the fact that some of the parallels drawn made it easier for the kids to understand some of the aspect of the Christian faith, such as why “being good” isn’t enough to get us into Heaven.  I also liked that each book ended with the opportunity for listeners to accept Christ and that the ABC’s of salvation were clearly spelled out.

The Seasons of Faith series books, with accompanying CD, are available for only $10 each.

I received this product free for the purpose of reviewing it.  I received no other compensation for this review.  The opinions expressed in this review are my personal, honest opinions.  Your experience may vary.
